This lively course is based on The Economist, a weekly publication acclaimed for its coverage and analysis of world events, politics, business, technology, the arts and other issues of current interest. Each week, we will discuss articles from the previous week’s edition. After the first session, volunteers will choose articles and lead the discussion for subsequent weeks. Access to The Economist is recommended for this course. Short and long-term subscriptions are available in print and/or digital format directly from www.economist.com. The selected articles can also be accessed via the CLAMS library network, although the system is quite erratic. We will try, without promising much, to help those using CLAMS. The Economist articles for the first class will be sent by the coordinator during the prior week.

Coordinator: Michael Sullivan
Mike, a mostly retired NYC litigator, has been an active member of ALL for several years, and has a keen interest in national and world events.

Coordinator: Bill Holcombe
Bill Holcombe, retired, has lived and worked outside the US for over 20 years. He still travels to Europe regularly where he used to enjoy coffee with The International Herald Tribune.

Here Bill and Michael discuss their upcoming course “The Economist.”
