Massachusetts History: Pride and Prejudice?

History is what we choose to remember. The Salem Witch Trials – victims, villains and motivations. Slavery in Massachusetts? We were the first English jurisdiction in North America with a Slave Code. Meet Mum Bett and Quock Walker whose lawsuits helped end enslavement. King Philips’s War – he wasn’t a king, and his name wasn’t Philip; why was the war named after him? When the Puritans arrived in 1630, the Shawmut Peninsula was 3.1 square miles. Now Boston is over 48 square miles. How did that happen? Hear from the woman who was the first girl to play little league. Consider a different approach to Crispus Attucks.

Steve is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. He is a retired trial lawyer who has traveled the state. His interest in local history was enhanced by plaques and memorials he read at courthouses while waiting for judges or juries, mostly judges. He has been a member of ALL for three years. So far so good!
